Our success story
Since its foundation in 1875 by master blacksmith Johann Rockinger, ROCKINGER has played a key role in the development of towing hitches and is synonymous with the highest quality in this sector.
1875
Blacksmith Johann Rockinger takes over Alois Dornin’s forge in Munich, where he had already worked as a journeyman and later as a master blacksmith.
1897
Wagon construction Johann Rockinger Jr. successfully concentrated on wagon construction and built robust transport, brewery and truck wagons. His company even expanded beyond Europe thanks to its high quality.
1927
Patent application Development of the world’s first fully automatic towing hitch: ROCKINGER safety hitch for truck-trailer combinations, German Reich patent granted and foreign patents applied for.
1932
Standard hitch type “W” Max Rockinger took over the company in 1932, successfully specialized in towing hitches such as type 15 and produced the standard hitch type “W” during the war, which was shipped worldwide.
1945
Reconstruction and new development After the end of the war, Max Rockinger immediately began rebuilding and developed the modular, fully automatic towing hitch. This was followed in 1952 by the world’s first special test bench for quality assurance of the couplings.
1960
Rubber suspension In 1960, Dr.-Ing. Georg Rockinger took over the company, promoted innovations in towing hitches and in 1964 developed the successful Type 401 series with improved rubber suspension for greater driving comfort and safety.
1978
New plant and new products From 1978 Rockinger developed the first slack-free trailer coupling type 59, introduced remote control, built fifth wheel couplings from 1981 and launched the all-purpose coupling type 710 in 1986.
1994
Fall of the Wall and takeover After the fall of the Wall in 1989, Rockinger contacted the GDR coupling company in Wechmar and took it over as “ROCKINGER Anhängekupplungen GmbH” in 1994 after negotiations with the Treuhandanstalt.
2001
Integration into JOST World ROCKINGER becomes part of JOST, a world-leading producer and supplier of safety-related systems, modules and components for the commercial vehicle industry.
2008
Internationalization ROCKINGER Munich is integrated into JOST World locations. In 2008, Wechmar is renamed ROCKINGER Agriculture GmbH - international orientation and expanded product range.
2023
Expanding the product range JOST acquires LH Lift, an established supplier and manufacturer of three-point linkages and couplings for agricultural tractors.
