Jaap Vaandrager, founder of Hyva

Jaap's entrepreneurial journey began at Edbro. On 1 August 1979, in a rented facility in Alphen aan den Rijn, he founded Hyva, a name derived from Hydrauliek Vaandrager. The company was established with the support of the Breuer family, owners of the German company JOST.

Under his leadership, Hyva developed its own hydraulic cylinder, a practical and reliable design that could be serviced in the field without specialized tools. This innovation became a cornerstone of our company's success for decades to come.

We are grateful for everything Jaap Vaandrager contributed to Hyva. Our thoughts are with his wife, children and grandchildren.
